Molecular Characterization of Sixty Local Mango Germplasm of Chapainawabganj

The experiment was conducted at Plant Genetic Resources Centre, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) and the genotypes were collected from Chapainawabganj, most mango variability rich district in Bangladesh. molecular characters of germplasm assessed by using six simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification DNA isolated 60 with 6 SSR primers performed. sizes alleles detected ranged 112 to 221 bp. SSRs exhibited moderate values polymorphic information content (PIC) range 0.9405 0.6501. distances (D) between varieties computed combined data primers, ranging 0.5000 1.0000. Moderate degree genetic diversity obtained where highest level gene value noted 0.9433 loci MIGA179 lowest 0.6683 MIGA253 a mean 0.8842. dendrogram generated unweighed pair group arithmetic average (UPGMA) cluster analysis broadly placed cultivars into ten major clusters. size varied 1 12 cluster-VI largest comprising 9 cultivars. tendency clustering among revealed that they have strong affinity towards further breeding programme.
